Sutter County

SutterSutter County is located along the Sacramento River, in the Central Valley, north of the state capital of Sacramento. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 94,737. There are 608 square miles in Sutter County and the county seat is Yuba City.

Sutter County is home to the Sutter Buttes, known as the “World’s Smallest Mountain Range.” This volcanic formation provides relief to the otherwise seemingly flat Sacramento Valley. Bordered by the Sacramento River on the west and the Feather River, Sutter County has 240 miles (390 km) of levees. The Sutter Bypass, which diverts flood waters from the Sacramento River, cuts through the heart of Sutter County.

There are no acute care hospitals located in the county. Emergency patients are primarily transported to Rideout Regional Medical Center in bordering Yuba County. Emergency ground ambulance service for the entire county is provided by Bi-County Ambulance under an Exclusive Operating Agreement (EOA).
